That’s the question residents in Nelson County are asking themselves after a local farmer found the mystery animal on his farm.

“I just happened to walk out on the porch and saw something moving in the field and it just looked unusual,” said Mark Cothern.

That strange creature moved closer along Cothern’s farmhouse, causing him to look through binoculars. He even called his wife to look as well. But the more they looked, the more unusual it appeared.

“Well, it’s something strange, so I got my rifle to shoot it, get a closer look. And I’m glad I did, ’cause I don’t know what it is,” he said.

It’s been anything from a big rat to the legendary chupacabra.

The chupacabra has been a mystery since 1995, with sightings reported all over the United States, from Texas to Maine. The legend says the elusive dog-like creature attacks livestock, bleeding them dry of blood — their favorite being goats.

The sightings and mystery has made the animal infamous. And it’s no different at the Corner Coffee Shop & Bakery in Bardstown.

“At first, I thought it kind of looked like a dog, then it had a really funny head with a nose that kind of looked like a snout,” said Kim Whitley.

“It was hairless,” said Rosemary Porter.

But for Laura Higgason with the Humane Society and Animal Control of Nelson County, the explanation of the chupacabra is simple.

“It’s a coyote with mange, come on. And of course, this animal is too small to be a coyote, but I saw the photos and it looks like it’s probably a raccoon or an opossum with mange. It’s not a mysterious animal,” said Higgason. “A cat’s got retractable claws, and this you can see the claws. The paws are different than a raccoon and it’s definitely not an opossum.”

The mystery should be solved at the first of the year when Cothern said a biologist from the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife will test the animal’s DNA.

“It puzzles me. I’d like to have an answer,” Cothern said. “A lot of people would.”

Someone who is supposed to be ruling on legalities concerning our very own constitution would not even base a new constitution on ours.

You think this lady’s goal on the court is to make law or vote in favor of laws outside the constitution? It’s activist judges like her that are the real threats to our country, and more importantly president’s like Barack Hussein Obama who appoint lifetime justices like her to the high court.

Ginsburg– You should certainly be aided by all the constitution-writing that has gone one since the end of World War II. I would not look to the US constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012. I might look at the constitution of South Africa. That was a deliberate attempt to have a fundamental instrument of government that embraced basic human rights, had an independent judiciary… It really is, I think, a great piece of work that was done. Much more recent than the US constitution – Canada has a Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It dates from 1982. You would almost certainly look at the European Convention on Human Rights. Yes, why not take advantage of what there is elsewhere in the world?

This is exactly what the Obama administration and Bureau(aka Bullshit) of Labor Statistics is currently doing.

They just released data for the previous month claiming that the unemployment rate decreased from 8.5% down to 8.3%. On the surface, this looks like great news for the economy in general.

If you look under the hood into how the number was derived, a completely different picture materializes before your eyes.

The BLS, adds in variables/adjustments to their January numbers to try to mitigate the influx of temporary labor into the market. This in and of itself shows you that the data can be manipulated by just adjusting one of your many variables.

The end result is that in January, those “not in the labor force” did in fact rise by 1.2 million (whether compared to December or to 2011 – please, go ahead and check as many times as needed), and the labor force participation rate dropped to a new 30 year low of 63.7%, a number which incidentally only has to drop by 5% more percent for the BLS to report zero, or even a negative, unemployment rate.

When you adjust the denominator in any rate calculation, you grossly affect the statistic in which you are measuring. By the BLS not taking into account the amount of people that have fallen off the grid (those that do not have jobs and have exhausted their unemployment benefits), they mask the true unemployment rate currently in the country.

Just go talk to someone who has been out of work over a year or longer, or speak to someone who is currently working part-time because they are unable to find full time employment. They will tell you truth about the “real” unemployment or underemployment rate.

Obama’s policies have been a complete failure, and only an incompetent person would argue this fact. More regulation, more bureaucracy, more taxes, more government intervention, etc. does not make for a pro-business economy.

Businesses can’t risk hiring more people with so much uncertainty in the market around Obamacare and the threat of additional nex taxes on their businesses. This is the reason why the economy has been so slow to turn back around.

Don’t listen to the so-called biased pundits on television. Grab a computer and search to your heart’s content about the economy and real unemployment rate.

Educate yourself so that you can make a smart decision when the time comes to cast your vote. I highly suggest you read Thomas Sowell economic books(see link below).

Playing in her first Grand Slam final and with the No.1 ranking on the line, Victoria Azarenka stepped up in a big way, recording a runaway 63 60 win over Maria Sharapova in the Australian Open final.

With the winner of the final guaranteed to rise to No.1 next week, her first Grand Slam title wasn’t the only thing Azarenka was playing for. And it seemed like maybe it was on her mind as she had a slow start, losing the first two games then falling behind 0-30 in the third – but she came alive from there, holding and then breaking back, then from 3-all going on an absolute tear, winning the next nine games in a row to polish off the one-hour, 22-minute victory.

Azarenka was by far the more solid of the two Saturday night – while they both had 14 winners, Azarenka had just 12 unforced errors to a whopping 30 from Sharapova, including a backhand into the net on Azarenka’s first match point.

Sharapova took the podium first: “First congratulations go to Victoria. It was an honor to play against you. You have worked so hard for this over the years and earned this title,” she said. “As in any sport, you have your good days and your tough days. Today things didn’t work out for me. Victoria was just too good.

“This was a tough loss today, but there’s no doubt I’ll be back and performing in front of you guys again. Melbourne has been my home away from home over the last month, and I couldn’t have asked for a better home than here.”

A jubilant Azarenka followed with her champion’s speech. “First I want to congratulate Maria. Thank you for such kind words. You had a great two weeks and did really well, and I’m sure there will be many more finals we’ll perform in,” Azarenka said. “I want to thank my team – you guys have been supporting me for so long, believing in me and making me realize I can believe in myself and can finally raise this trophy. Azarenka is the first Belarusian to win a Grand Slam title and to rise to No.1 – her country’s previous best results came from Natasha Zvereva, who reached one Grand Slam final (the 1988 French Open final) and made it up to No.5.

“Congratulations to Victoria on reaching the pinnacle of her career and becoming the WTA’s newest World No.1,” said Stacey Allaster, Chairman & CEO of the WTA. “It has been great to watch Vika grow as a player over the last few years and I’m thrilled she has achieved this milestone at such a young age.”

It is worth noting that Zvereva was No.1 in doubles for 124 weeks and won 18 Grand Slam women’s doubles and two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.

Sharapova is now 3-3 in her career in Grand Slam finals, winning titles at Wimbledon in 2004, the US Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008. She will rise from No.4 to No.3 on the new rankings; Petra Kvitova will stay at No.2, while Caroline Wozniacki will fall from No.1 to No.4.

Mr. Obama, stop with the damned lies and tell the truth.

As of 2011, the tax structure on earned wages is set up as such:
10% on taxable income from $0 to $8,500, plus
15% on taxable income over $8,500 to $34,500, plus
25% on taxable income over $34,500 to $83,600, plus
28% on taxable income over $83,600 to $174,400, plus
33% on taxable income over $174,400 to $379,150, plus
35% on taxable income over $379,150.

What Barack is saying that Buffet’s 15% cap gains tax is a lower rate than the secretary’s ordinary income rate. VERY MISLEADING! If his secretary has capital gains she pays 15%, just like Buffet. And on their ordinary income they both pay the same rate until a point that one has higher ordinary income that exceeds the other. I believe that Buffet’s salary is $197,000.00, which would be taxed as ordinary income.

Capital gains tax rate is only 15% because the government wanted to stimulate investment in companies which produce the majority of jobs for american citizens. Guess what happens if that rate is raised to an excessive amount? People will stop putting as much money into investments because the risk begins to outweigh the reward of investing your hard earned money.

Some people argue that capital gains taxes should be 0% because the monies people are investing has already been taxed at the rates outlined above.

This is how it works. Let’s say you earn 50k a year from your job. Your 50k falls into the 25% federal tax bracket, so you fork over that amount to the federal government (excluding any deductions you may have). Let’s also assume you want to put money into a safe investment that will grow over time for your retirement, so you invest another 10% of your money into the stock market. If your stock investments increase in value, you have to pay capital gains taxes on your investments when you sell the shares. If your investment loses value, you obviously do not have to pay capital gains on your loss.

So, your hard earned wages which you have already been taxed on are taxed again at the capital gains tax rate, yet you can only write off 3k a year in losses.

For Obama to say Buffett or anyone whose majority of income is from capital gains, doesn’t pay as high a rate as their employees, it is very very misleading. Buffett has already paid taxes on the money he has earned at the federal rate, and the capital gains taxes he has to pay is nothing but an additional tax he has to pay.

The truth is, if Buffett didn’t want his secretary to pay a higher rate, he could just as easily decide to pay her in stock compensation (which is taxed at the capital gains rate of 15%) instead of salary which is taxed at the higher rates.

Obama still does not even realize what is wrong with the country. The country, especially him, is spending too much money. The country does not have a revenue problem, what we have is a spending problem. Obama has spent 5 trillion dollars in only 3 years in office. The previous presidents combined had only spent 11 trillion dollars.

This president is responsible for nearly 33% of the total outstanding debt that our country currently owes.

For anyone even considering voting for him, I not only question your intelligence, but I also question your morality. How can you, with good conscience, put someone back into office with such a horrible record on everything that he has taken on?

This man has zero accomplishments in his 3 years into office. Unemployment is still sky high. Health care costs continue their upward trajectory. Gas prices continue their higher trend. Food prices continue to increase.

All he does is try to spit out the typical class warfare garbage, trying to pit the poor people against the wealthy people. Instead of putting forward growth policies that will allow poor people to move into the middle class and middle class people to move into the wealthy class, all he wants to do is try to blame the wealthy and upper middle class for their success.

He wants to take money out of their pockets and give it to the less fortunate people.

As a country, when did we become so envious of the wealthy that we want their hard earned money? This class warfare business has to stop. The wealthy need incentives to invest their hard earned monies into additional businesses to create jobs for the working people. This isn’t done by castigating the rich people as evil and then try to take as much money away from them as you possibly can.

Wake up people, and educate yourself as to the workings of the economy. You could tax the wealthy 100% and all that money would barely run the government for a little more than half a month. Did you know that?

I will repeat it.

If you tax the wealthy 100%, you couldn’t run the government for more than 20 days with all that money.

So, do you realize the president is spewing nothing but class warfare to try to build up the envy of the people for the sake of being re-elected. Sure, he would like to get his hands on additional revenue from the rich people for his pet social welfare programs, but that isn’t what his ultimate goal is.

He spouts this garbage only because he wants to get the free-loaders and bleeding hearts to vote him back into office next year.

Do not fall for the empty rhetoric this time around. Seek out the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
